Be Heard in Banes (BHIB) is a new outreach training and support programme that focuses on self-advocacy, provided by local organisation: https://swanadvocacy.org.uk/
Who is the training for? The training is available to anyone who is a) resident in Bath and North East Somerset (BaNEs); b) over the age of 18 years old and c) has (or works with/cares for an individual(s) with) a low to medium mental health condition.
The 3 hour training programme covers:
- What is advocacy and self-advocacy
- What are your rights in relation to the law
- Identifying what your barriers are to self-advocating & how to overcome them
- Identifying what your strengths are to self-advocateToolkits to self-advocate and how to use them successfully.
The training is provided with the option of follow-up support to ensure you feel confident in self-advocating and supporting someone else to self-advocate.
