Provided by St Mungo's. There are 5 sessions to this course, held over a period of 4 weeks, which will equip you with skills, knowledge and confidence to jointly facilitate your own volunteer support groups. In a fun and interactive way you will learn about yourself, your facilitating style, and what skills you need to develop to become an effective group facilitator.
Course dates are: June 15th, 22nd, 28th, 29th, July 6th, all from 10.30am - 3pm
This training is provided to support volunteers and those with lived experience to deliver or co-facilitate community, client, or volunteer groups in Banes. If you have an idea of how you would use this training to help others please let us know!
During the 5 sessions of this course the following topics will be covered:
Session 1: Introduction - An overview of the course, getting to know the facilitators and other participants, and dispelling any fears that people may have.
Session 2: Communicating with Confidence – Enabling participants to understand the benefits of good communication, what the barriers to good communication are and considering the different tools that can help improve communication.
Session 3: It’s Ok to be Me – Using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator to give participants a deeper understanding of the different gifts we all have by virtue of our personalities; understanding how the differing ways we perceive and make decisions affect communication.
Session 4: Assertiveness & managing a meeting - Understand the benefits of communicating assertively and to be better able to do so in different situations. Plus the importance of ground rules and confidentiality for success. Empowering others to express their different needs, wishes and possible ways forward.
Session 5: Public Presentation Skills – Helping participants to develop their ability to give a short presentation and to listen to and evaluate other's presentations.
