What is Connect 5?
Connect 5 training promotes a whole-person approach to mental health and wellbeing. Devised by Public Health England it forms a key part of the national mental health. prevention agenda.
This single session covers Connect 5 Level 1 training. Spaces on Level 2 & 3 training will be made available in the future to attendees who wish to further develop knowledge and skills.
Connect 5 training empowers the general public to better understand and respond to someone's mental health and wellbeing needs - helping minimise mental and emotional distress, or signposting to specialist support, before it reaches crisis point.
It is not a substitute for clinical services; but is based upon the recognition that not all mental health and wellbeing needs require medical or clinical interventions. The training is intended to encourage informed early intervention and prevention in community settings, workplaces and college campuses.
The ultimate aim of applying the knowledge and tools contained within Connect 5 is to break cycles of spiralling negativity early and start cycles of positive thought, feeling and experience instead.
