Gain a greater awareness of how issues of equality and inclusion can impact our volunteering roles, and our interactions in general, and are vital to building trust, rapport, and mutual respect with others.
By the end of the course you should be able to:
Explain the difference between equality, diversity and inclusion, including why these are valued by St Mungo’s.
Describe the protected characteristics and forms of discrimination.
Identify how you can challenge inappropriate behaviour demonstrated by clients, staff or other volunteers.
Explain unconscious bias and its impact when volunteering.
Opportunities to work with other volunteers during the session during activities, to apply their learning to case studies based on real situations to reinforce learning.
Approach: The session will be both practical and highly interactive using a range of exercises and materials. The trainer believes learning should be non-threatening, enjoyable and challenging of prejudice.
