Gain a greater awareness of how issues of equality and inclusion affect our day to day interactions, and can positively or negatively impact our volunteering work with others.
By the end of the course you should be able to:
Explain the difference between equality, diversity and inclusion.
Describe the protected characteristics and forms of discrimination.
Identify how you can challenge inappropriate behaviour demonstrated by clients, staff or other volunteers.
Explain unconscious bias and its impact when volunteering.
Opportunities to work with other volunteers during the session during activities, to apply their learning to case studies based on real situations to reinforce learning.
Approach: The session will be both practical and highly interactive using a range of exercises and materials. The trainer believes learning should be non-threatening, enjoyable and challenging of prejudice.
