Run by registered nutritionist Alison Preston, this cookery course will comprise of six, two hour sessions designed especially for people with type 2 diabetes and those diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes. It is also open to partners, carers or those who cook for people with the condition.
Each week we will cook tasty food suitable for different meal times, so we will have sessions on breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as sessions on snacks and desserts. All recipes use easy to obtain ingredients (so nothing weird) and basic cooking equipment. By the end of the six sessions you will have a lovely selection of recipes so you will be able to re-create the dishes with ease at home. All recipes will have nutritional information included; the amount of fat, protein, carbohydrate and sugar along with calorie count for each dish.
Each week we will also think about ways to adapt your existing recipes to help you better manage your condition.

All recipes will be in line with the food intake messages from both the X-PERT Diabetes Programme and the Diabetes Prevention Programme. We will be focusing on minimally processed food, plenty of fruit and veg along with good quality protein and some dairy.
